Behaviour Expectations
At ISJ, we believe good behaviour grows from clear expectations, respectful relationships, and a shared sense of care and responsibility. These expectations help ensure that every child can learn and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.
For Pupils
Children at ISJ are encouraged to be gentle, kind, and fair. This means using respectful words and actions, including others in activities, and helping classmates when they need support. We expect them to listen respectfully, to tell the truth, to share with others, and to work hard in class.
Pupils are asked to take care of their belongings, treat the school environment with respect, and show consideration for their classmates, teachers, and helpers. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, during school trips, or out in the community while wearing the school uniform, children are expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects the values of the school.
We are committed to maintaining an environment where all pupils feel safe and valued. Bullying, harassment, or exclusionary behaviour will not be tolerated. Children are encouraged to speak up if they witness or experience unkind treatment.
In our digital age, we also expect pupils to demonstrate good digital citizenship by being respectful in online learning environments and following school guidelines for technology use.
We understand that children sometimes make mistakes. When that happens, our restorative approach guides them to reflect on their actions, understand the impact on others, learn from the experience, and take steps to make things right. This process helps build empathy and personal responsibility.
For Parents and Guardians
We view parents as our partners in supporting each child's development — academic, social, and emotional. We ask that parents reinforce the values and expectations of the school, and approach communication with staff in a constructive, respectful manner.
Children are expected to attend school regularly and to arrive on time each morning. Holidays should be taken during the official school breaks. If your child is unwell or unable to attend, please notify the school by 8:30am. Absences for reasons other than illness should be requested in advance by email to admissions@isj.id.
Pupils should be neatly dressed in the correct school uniform each day. Hair should be tidy and off the face, and long hair should be tied back. Jewellery, make-up, and nail polish are not part of the school dress code. All personal belongings should be clearly labelled, and children should not bring unnecessary valuables to school.
We ask that children are collected promptly at the end of the school day, and that the school is informed if someone other than a parent will be collecting your child. If you are ever running late, please let us know as soon as possible.
We also ask that all communication with teachers and school staff — whether in person or online — remains courteous and solution-focused. We discourage the use of group chats or social media to discuss school matters, especially where a private conversation with the relevant teacher would be more appropriate and respectful.
We appreciate your support in creating a school culture that is calm, kind, and purposeful — and where every child can feel known, valued, and guided as they grow.
