Curriculum Guide

Part 1 - Introduction

This Curriculum Guide provides a structured overview of ISJ’s academic program, outlining our approach to teaching and learning, subject progression, and the principles that guide our curriculum design. It serves as a reference for parents, students, and educators to understand how ISJ ensures a high-quality, well-rounded education that prepares students for future academic success and personal growth.

Our Academic Approach

At ISJ, we know that an exceptional education is built upon a foundation of academic excellence, character development, and holistic learning. Drawing from the traditions of British preparatory schools, our curriculum is designed to challenge, inspire, and support students at every stage of their educational journey.

ISJ maintains high academic expectations, ensuring that students develop strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. At the same time, we recognise that education extends beyond the classroom—our approach nurtures resilience, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum follows the English National Curriculum, adapted to our context in Indonesia and to reflect the needs of an internationally diverse student body. It is structured into two key phases—Pre-Prep and Prep—to ensure a smooth and logical progression in learning and development.

Additionally, the House System is a defining feature of ISJ’s school life, providing students with opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and friendly competition across academics, sports, and co-curricular activities.
